A Tired New Orleans

I am so tired of waiting,
Aren’t you,
For the world to become good
And beautiful and kind?
Let us take a knife
And cut the world in two-
And see what worms are eating
At the rind.

This reminds me of my city.. if only they would take time to see or even just let her be, give her time to heal, possibly love her just enough to plant a seed. Instead they continue to dig to see what other riches they can find, be it taking from her heart, soul or ground. They won’t care until they dig up worms, after all the crawfish are not around. All her previous goods have drowned from a preventable flood of political crime, that can’t be atoned and certainly not owned. Is that what it will take for her to heal, to let God’s water come in, wash away the corrupt sin of them…To start from scratch once again….
