Blue Bell Ice Cream Butter Crunch Recall
The specific lot of half gallons was produced on August, 26, 2019 at the Sylacauga, Alabama plant. The ice cream was distributed to nine states; Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The recalled product has the code "082621222" labeled on top of the lid. If this matches the ice cream in your fridge, Blue Bell says to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. I’m so happy Louisiana wasn’t affected or my favorite flavors. It’s a must that I have my Butter Pecan and Wedding Cake available at all times in case of a foodie emergency.

Be like the Blue Dog and exercise your right to vote!
I know the Blue Dog will not be on the “I Voted” sticker, but I couldn’t resist. But I was reading my son’s US history book about “Facts You Wouldn’t Believe” and their was a small article about a dog named Boscoe who was elected “honorary” mayor of a small California town of Sunol in 1983. He was a black Labrador retriever and Rottweiler mix, usually known simply as “Bosco”. Bosco defeated two humans to win the honorary mayoral election in 1983. He served as mayor for elven years until he died in 1994. – Press Release These are the candidates and amendment the Louisiana Democratic Party is proud to…

My Nola Life: Growing up Tall, Dark-Skinned with Nappy Hair
The issues I had with being defined as "Dark and Ugly” came from people outside our family in the beginning. I was darker one in my family and if subconsciously and if possible in the womb I knew the prettiest girls were lighter with so-called good hair and not girls who looked like me. I wouldn't truly understand that being dark-skinned with nappy hair meant something bad and ugly until I started school. My short afro puff ponytails were mocked and ridiculed along with my chocolate-colored skin. This would be the beginning of a long journey of questioning who I was, searching for validation, depression all because I was trained…

A Traditional New Orleans Monday Dinner is Red Beans & Rice; Recipe Included
What I love about the history of cooking Red Beans and Rice is that is was about survival, making something taste good out of a little of nothing. You can feed a family of 4-6 people with one bag of red beans and the parts of meat what was known as throw away parts back in the days of slavery and segregation.

St. Roch Market
link.medium.com/r7Adsqxpz0 The lawsuit is a reminder that St. Roch was built, strategically, upon the bones of an old public market. Donaldson wrote that he still sees the vendors as part of that tradition, entrepreneurs who serve the community.
